Surah Muhammad (“Muhammad”) is the 47th surah of the Quran: a Madinan surah of 38 ayahs.
Background
A Madinan surah bearing the name of the Prophet ﷺ (2), revealed in the early years after the Hijrah; it is also called Al-Qital (Fighting).
Main themes
- If you support Allah, He will support you and make your feet firm (7)
- Rivers of water, milk, wine and honey in Paradise (15)
- Do they not reflect on the Quran, or are there locks on their hearts? (24)
- Spending in Allah’s way; He does not need you (38)
The opening ayahs
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ ١
Those who disbelieve and avert [people] from the way of Allah - He will waste their deeds.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍۢ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۙ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ ٢
And those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He will remove from them their misdeeds and amend their condition.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلْبَٰطِلَ وَأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلْحَقَّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ ٣
That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, and those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allah present to the people their comparisons.

প্রেক্ষাপট
মদিনায় হিজরতের প্রথম দিকে অবতীর্ণ; রাসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ-এর নাম (২) থেকে নামকরণ। একে আল-কিতাল (যুদ্ধ)-ও বলা হয়।
মূল বিষয়বস্তু
- তোমরা আল্লাহকে সাহায্য করলে তিনি তোমাদের সাহায্য করবেন ও পা দৃঢ় রাখবেন (৭)
- জান্নাতে পানি, দুধ, শরাব ও মধুর নদী (১৫)
- তারা কি কুরআন নিয়ে চিন্তা করে না, নাকি অন্তরে তালা লাগানো? (২৪)
- আল্লাহর পথে ব্যয়; তিনি তোমাদের মুখাপেক্ষী নন (৩৮)
