Surah Al-Fath (“The Victory”) is the 48th surah of the Quran: a Madinan surah of 29 ayahs.
Background
Revealed on the way back from Hudaybiyah in 6 AH. What looked like a setback was declared a clear victory, and within two years Makkah was opened.

- “We have granted you a clear victory” (1)
- Tranquillity sent down into the hearts of the believers (4)
- Allah was pleased with those who pledged under the tree (18)
- Muhammad ﷺ and those with him: firm with the disbelievers, merciful among themselves (29)
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Tonight a surah has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than everything on which the sun rises.” (Bukhari 4177)
The opening ayahs
إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًۭا مُّبِينًۭا ١
Indeed, We have given you, [O Muhammad], a clear conquest
لِّيَغْفِرَ لَكَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنۢبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ وَيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكَ وَيَهْدِيَكَ صِرَٰطًۭا مُّسْتَقِيمًۭا ٢
That Allah may forgive for you what preceded of your sin and what will follow and complete His favor upon you and guide you to a straight path
وَيَنصُرَكَ ٱللَّهُ نَصْرًا عَزِيزًا ٣
And [that] Allah may aid you with a mighty victory.

প্রেক্ষাপট
ষষ্ঠ হিজরিতে হুদাইবিয়া থেকে ফেরার পথে অবতীর্ণ। যা বাহ্যত পরাজয় মনে হচ্ছিল, তাকে সুস্পষ্ট বিজয় ঘোষণা করা হয়; দুই বছরের মধ্যে মক্কা বিজয় হয়।

ফজিলত
রাসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ বলেছেন, “আজ রাতে আমার উপর এমন একটি সূরা নাযিল হয়েছে, যা আমার কাছে সূর্য যা কিছুর উপর উদিত হয় তার চেয়েও প্রিয়।” (বুখারী ৪১৭৭)
