তিনি বলেন, রসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেনঃ আজকের দিনে আমাদের প্রথম কাজ হলো সালাত (সালাত/নামাজ/নামায) আদায় করা। তারপর আমরা ফিরে গিয়ে কুরবানী করব। যে লোক এরূপ করলো সে আমাদের সুন্নাত পালন করলো। আর যে লোক (সালাতের আগে) যাবাহ করলো, সেটা কেবল গোশত (খাওয়ার জন্য) হলো, যা সে নিজের পরিবারের জন্য অগ্রিম ব্যবস্থা করলো। সেটা কুরবানীর কিছুই হলো না। আবূ বুরদাহ ইবনু নিয়ার (রাযিঃ) পূর্বেই কুরবানীর নিয়্যাতে যাবাহ করে ফেলেছিলেন। তাই তিনি বললেন, আমার কাছে একটি ছয় মাসের বকরীর বাচ্চা আছে যা এক বছরের বাচ্চার চেয়েও হৃষ্টপুষ্ট। রসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বললেনঃ তুমি সেটিই কুরবানী করো। তোমার পরে আর কারো জন্য এটা যথেষ্ট হবে না। (ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন ৪৯১৩, ইসলামিক সেন্টার)
Al-Bara' b. 'Azib reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said:The first (act) with which we started our day (the day of 'Id-ul Adha) was that we offered prayer. We then returned and sacrificed the animals and he who did that in fact adhered to our Sunnah (practice). And he who slaughtered the (animal on that day before the 'Id prayer), for him (the slaughtering of animal was directed to the acquiring of) meat for his family, and there is nothing of the sort of sacrifice in it. It was Abu Burda b. Niyar who had slaughtered (the animal before the 'Id prayer). He said: I have a small lamb, of less than one year, but better than that of more than a year. তিনি বলেন, কুরবানীর দিন রসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম আমাদের উদ্দেশে খুতবাহ দিলেন। তিনি এতে বললেনঃ সালাতের আগে কেউ যেন কুরবানী না করে। এক লোক বলল, আমার কাছে একটি দুধেল বকরী রয়েছে, যেটি গোশতের (হিসেবে) দুটি বকরীর চেয়ে উত্তম। তিনি বললেন, ওটা কুরবানী করো। তোমার পর অন্য কারো জন্য এ রকম ছ'মাসের বাচ্চা (কুরবানী করা) যথেষ্ট হবে না। (ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন ৪৯১৬, ইসলামিক সেন্টার)
