রেওয়ায়ত ৩০. আনাস ইবন মালিক (রাঃ) বলেন, উমর ইবনে খাত্তাব (রাঃ) যখন আমীরুল মু'মিনীন ছিলেন, তখন তাহার সম্মুখে এক সা’ খেজুর রাখা হইত; আর তিনি উহা খাইতেন। এমন কি খারাপ ও শুকনা খেজুরও খাইতেন। আবদুল্লাহ ইবন উমর (রাঃ) বলেন, উমর ইবনে খাত্তাব (রাঃ)-কে যখন ফড়িং সম্বন্ধে জিজ্ঞাসা করা হইল (ইহা কি হালাল, না হারাম)। তিনি বলিলেন, আমি পছন্দ করি যে, যদি আমার কাছে এক থলি ফড়িং হইত তবে আমি উহা খাইতাম (অর্থাৎ ফড়িং খাওয়া হালাল এবং উহা বেশ ভাল খাদ্য)। (ইহা পঙ্গপাল, এক বিশেষ ধরনের ফড়িং।)
Yahya related to me from Malik from Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha that Anas ibn Malik said, "I saw Umar ibn al-Khattab when he was amir al-muminin being given a sa of dates, and he ate all of them, even the inferior ones
রেওয়ায়ত ৩১. হুমাইদ ইবনে মালিক (রহঃ) হইতে বর্ণিত, আমি আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ)-এর নিকট তাহার আকীকস্ত (জায়গার নাম) যমীনের খামারে বসিয়াছিলাম। এমন সময় তাহার নিকট কিছুসংখ্যক মদীনাবাসী সওয়ারীর উপর সওয়ার হইয়া আসিল এবং সেখানে নামিল। হুমাইদ বলেন, আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) আমাকে বলিলেন, আমার আম্মার নিকট গিয়া আমার সালাম বল এবং আমাদেরকে কিছু খাওয়াইতে বল। হুমাইদ বলেন, (আমি তাহার আম্মার নিকট গিয়া উক্ত সংবাদ জানাইলাম)। তিনি তিনটি রুটি, কিছু যাইতুনের তেল এবং সামান্য লবণ পাত্রে রাখিয়া উহা আমার মাথার উপর রাখিলেন। উহা লইয়া আমি তাহদের (আবু হুরায়রা প্রমুখের) নিকট পৌছিলাম এবং তাঁহাদের সম্মুখে উহা রাখিলাম। আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) উহা দেখিয়া আল্লাহু আকবর বলিলেন এবং বলিলেন, আল্লাহর শোকর, যিনি পেট ভরিয়া রুটি খাওয়াইয়াছেন। ইতিপূর্বে আমাদের অবস্থা এই ছিল যে, খেজুর পানি ব্যতীত আর কিছুই ছিল না। উক্ত খাবার আগন্তুকদের জন্য যথেষ্ট হয় নাই। অতঃপর তাহারা চলিয়া গেল, আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) আমাকে বলিলেন, ভাতিজা ছাগলগুলিকে ভালমতে যত্ন করিও, উহাদের নাক মুছিয়া দিও, উহাদের থাকার স্থানটা পরিষ্কার রাখিও এবং সেখানেই এক কোণে নামায পড়িও। কেননা উহা বেহেশতী জীব। সেই পাক জাতের কসম, যাহার হাতে আমার প্রাণ রহিয়াছে, অদূর ভবিষ্যতে জনসাধারণের উপর এমনই এক সময় আসিবে, যখন মারওয়ানের (আড়ম্বরপূর্ণ) ঘরের চেয়ে ছাগলের ছোট একটি পাল অধিক প্রিয় হইবে।
Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Halhala that Humayd ibn Malik ibn Khu'haym said, "I was sitting with Abu Hurayra on his land at al-Aqiq. Some people rode out from Madina to call upon Abu Hurayra. He told me to go to his mother, sending his greetings and asking her to prepare some food." Humayd continued, "She set down three loaves on a plate and some oil and salt. Then she put it on my head and I carried it to them. When I set it before them, Abu Hurayra said, 'Allah is greater' and added, 'Praise be to Allah who has filled us with bread after our food had previously been only water and dates,' as the people did not touch any of the food. When they left, he said, 'O son of my brother, be good to your sheep and wipe the mucus from them and clean their pen. Pray in their quarter for they are among the animals of the Garden. By He in Whose Hand my self is, a time is about to come upon people when a small group of sheep will be more beloved to their owner than the house of Marwan
রেওয়ায়ত ২৯. ইয়াহইয়া ইবন সায়ীদ (রহঃ) বর্ণনা করেন, উমর ইবনে খাত্তাব (রাঃ) একদা রুটিতে ঘৃত মাখিয়া খাইতেছিলেন। এমন সময় জনৈক গ্রাম্য লোক আসিল। তিনি তাহাকেও ডাকিলেন। গ্রাম্য লোকটিও রুটি খাইতে লাগিল এবং রুটির সহিত ঘৃতের সেই ময়লাও খাইতে লগিল, যাহা ঘৃতের পাত্রে লাগিয়াছিল। উমর (রাঃ) তাহাকে বলিলেন, তুমি কোনদিন কিছু খাও নাই মনে হইতেছে! লোকটি বলিল, আল্লাহর কসম! আমি অনেক দিন ধরিয়া ঘৃত খাই নাই এবং ঘৃত দিয়া রুটি খাইতে কাহাকেও দেখিও নাই। অতঃপর উমর (রাঃ) বলিলেন, যতদিন পর্যন্ত জনসাধারণের আর্থিক অবস্থা পূর্বে যেমন ছিল তেমন না হয়, ততদিন পর্যন্ত আমিও ঘৃত খাইব না।
Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Umar ibn al-Khattab was eating bread with ghee. He summoned one of the desert people and he began to eat and follow the grease in the dish with a morsel of bread. Umar said, "It is as if you were poor." He said, "By Allah. I have not eaten ghee nor have I seen food with it since such- and-such a time." Umar declared, "I shall not eat clarified butter until people are given life again like they were first given life," (i.e. on the Day of Rising)
