Surah Al-Jumu'ah (“Friday”) is the 62nd surah of the Quran: a Madinan surah of 11 ayahs.
Background
Revealed in Madinah after people left the Friday sermon to meet an arriving trade caravan (11).

Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ recited Al-Jumu‘ah and Al-Munafiqun in the Friday prayer (Muslim 877).
The opening ayahs
يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْمَلِكِ ٱلْقُدُّوسِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ ١
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّۦنَ رَسُولًۭا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ ٢
It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom - although they were before in clear error -
وَءَاخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِمْ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٣
And [to] others of them who have not yet joined them. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

প্রেক্ষাপট
মদিনায় অবতীর্ণ; একবার জুমার খুতবা চলাকালে বাণিজ্য কাফেলা আসায় লোকেরা খুতবা ছেড়ে চলে গিয়েছিল (১১)।

- তাদের মধ্য থেকে রাসূল — যিনি তিলাওয়াত করেন, পরিশুদ্ধ করেন ও শিক্ষা দেন (২)
- যাদের তাওরাত দেওয়া হয়েছিল কিন্তু তারা তা বহন করেনি (৫)
- জুমার দিন আযান হলে আল্লাহর স্মরণের দিকে দ্রুত যাও, বেচাকেনা ছাড়ো (৯)
- আল্লাহর কাছে যা আছে, তা খেলাধুলা ও ব্যবসার চেয়ে উত্তম (১১)
ফজিলত
রাসূলুল্লাহ ﷺ জুমার নামাজে সূরা জুমু‘আ ও মুনাফিকূন পড়তেন (মুসলিম ৮৭৭)।
