Surah Al-'Asr (“The Declining Day, Epoch”) is the 103rd surah of the Quran: a Makkan surah of 3 ayahs.

A Makkan surah of three ayahs that summarises the whole path of success. Imam ash-Shafi‘i said that if people reflected on this surah alone, it would suffice them.

The opening ayahs
وَٱلْعَصْرِ ١
By time,
إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ ٢
Indeed, mankind is in loss,
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ ٣
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

মক্কায় অবতীর্ণ তিন আয়াতের সূরা, যাতে সফলতার পুরো পথ সংক্ষেপে বলা হয়েছে। ইমাম শাফেয়ি (রহ.) বলেছেন, মানুষ যদি শুধু এই সূরা নিয়ে চিন্তা করত, তবে এটিই তাদের জন্য যথেষ্ট হতো।
