Fitra, Eid and the six days of Shawwal
Sadaqatul Fitr
Due for every member of the household before the Eid prayer. It makes up for the slips of the fast and puts food on a poor family's table for the feast.
The amount: half a sa‘ of wheat (about 1.65 kg), or one sa‘ (about 3.3 kg) of barley, dates, raisins or cheese — or their price.

Eid al-Fitr
- Bathe, wear your best, use perfume.
- Eat an odd number of dates before going out.
- Say the takbir on the way, and come back by another road.
- Two rak‘ahs with extra takbirs; the sermon comes after the prayer.

Six days of Shawwal
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he fasted the whole year.” Any six days after Eid, together or apart.
