আবূ বাকর ইবনু আবূ শায়বাহ ও মুহাম্মাদ ইবনুল মুসান্না (রহিমাহুমাল্লাহ) ..... 'আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু আমর (রাযিঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, রসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম তাকে বলেন, তুমি একদিন সওম পালন করলে পরের দিনের সাওয়াব পাবে। তিনি বলেন, আমি আরও অধিক রাখতে সক্ষম। তিনি বললেন, তুমি দু'দিন সওম পালন কর। তাহলে অবশিষ্ট দিনগুলোর সাওয়াব পাবে। তিনি বললেন, আমি আরও অধিক সওম পালন করতে সক্ষম। তিনি বললেন, তুমি তিনদিন সওম পালন কর তাহলে অবশিষ্ট দিনগুলোরও সাওয়াব পাবে। তিনি বললেন, আমি আরও অধিক রাখতে সক্ষম। তিনি বললেন, তুমি চারদিন সওম পালন কর, তাহলে অবশিষ্ট দিনগুলোরও সাওয়াব লাভ করবে। তিনি বললেন, আমি আরও অধিক রাখতে সক্ষম। তিনি বললেন, তুমি দাউদ (আঃ) এর সওম পালন কর যা আল্লাহর কাছে সর্বোত্তম সওম। তিনি পর্যায়ক্রমে একদিন সওম পালন করতেন এবং পরের দিন বাদ দিতেন। (ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন ২৬০৯, ইসলামীক সেন্টার)
Abdullah b. Amr (Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had said to him:Observe fast for a day and there would be reward for you for the rest (of the days). He said: I am capable of doing more than this. He then said: Observe fast for two days, and there would be reward for you for the rest (of the days). He said: I am capable of doing more than this. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Observe fast for three days and there would be reward for you for the rest of the days. He said: I am capable of doing more than this, whereupon he said: Observe fast for four days and there would be reward for you for the rest of the days. He said: I am capable of doing more than this. Thereupon he said: Then observe fast (which is the) best in the eye of Allah, the fast of David (peace be upon him) ; he used to observe fast one day and break on the other day
ইয়াহইয়া ইবনু ইয়াহইয়া (রহঃ) ..... আবূ কিলাবাহ (রহঃ) হতে বর্ণিত:
তিনি বলেন, আমাকে আবুল মালীহ (রহঃ) অবহিত করেছেন, তিনি বলেছেনঃ আমি তোমার পিতার সাথে ‘আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু 'আমর (রাযিঃ) এর কাছে গেলাম। তিনি আমাদের নিকট বললেন যে, রসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম এর নিকট আমার সওম সম্পর্কে উল্লেখ করা হলে তিনি আমার কাছে এলেন। আমি তার জন্য একটি চামড়ার বালিশ বিছিয়ে দিলাম। তাতে খেজুরের আঁশ ভর্তি ছিল। তিনি মাটির উপর বসে গেলেন এবং বালিশটি তার ও আমার মাঝে পড়ে থাকল। তিনি আমাকে বললেন, প্রতি মাসে তিনদিন সওম পালন করা কি তোমার জন্য যথেষ্ট নয়? আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহর রসূল (আমি এর অধিক সওম পালন করতে সক্ষম) তিনি বললেন, তাহলে পাঁচদিন। আমি বললাম হে আল্লাহর রসূল (আমি এর চেয়ে বেশি সামর্থ্য রাখি)। তিনি বললেন, তাহলে সাতদিন? আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহর রসূল! আমি এর অধিক সামর্থ্য রাখি। তিনি বললেন, তাহলে নয়দিন। আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহর রসূল (আমি এর অধিক সামর্থ্য রাখি)। তিনি বললেন, তাহলে এগার দিন। আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহর রসূল (আমি এর অধিক সামর্থ্য রাখি) নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বললেন, দাউদ (আঃ) এর সওমের উপর কোন সওম নেই। তিনি বছরের অর্ধেক অর্থাৎ একদিন যদি এ সওম পালন করতেন, আরেক দিন বাদ দিতেন। (ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন ২৬০৮, ইসলামীক সেন্টার)
Abu Qatada reported that Abu al Malih informed me:I went along with your father to 'Abdullah b. Amr, and he narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was informed about my fasting and he came to me, and I placed a leather cushion filled with fibre of date-palms for him. He sat down upon the ground and there was that cushion between me and him, and he said to me: Does three days' fasting in a month not suffice you? I said: Messenger of Allah, (I am capable of observing more fasts). He said: (Would) five (not suffice for you)? I said: Messenger of Allah, (I am capable of observing more fasts) He said: (Would) seven (fasts) not suffice you? I said: Messenger of Allah, (I am capable of observing more fasts). He (the Holy Prophet) then said: (Would) nine (fasts not suffice you)? I said: Messenger of Allah, (I am capable of observing more fasts). He said: (Would) eleven (fasts not suffice you)? I said: Messenger of Allah, (I am capable of observing more fasts than these). Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: There is no fasting (better than) the fasting of David which comprises half of the age, fasting a day and not fasting a day
যুহায়র ইবনু হারব ও মুহাম্মাদ ইবনু হাতিম (রহিমাহুমাল্লাহ) ..... আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু 'আমর (রাযিঃ) বলেন, রসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম আমাকে বললেন, হে আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু আমর! আমি জানতে পেরেছি যে, তুমি দিনের বেলা সওম পালন কর এবং রাতের বেলা সালাতে থাক, তুমি এরূপ করো না। কারণ তোমার উপর তোমাদের দেহের একটি অংশ (হাক্ব (হক)) রয়েছে, তোমার উপর তোমার চোখের অংশ রয়েছে এবং তোমার উপর তোমার স্ত্রীর অংশ রয়েছে। তুমি সওমও পালন কর এবং বাদও দাও। প্রতি মাসে তিনদিন করে সওম পালন কর এবং এটাই হল সারা বছরের সওম (এর নিয়ম)। আমি বললাম, হে আল্লাহর রসূল! আমার আরও শক্তি আছে। তিনি বললেন, তাহলে দাউদ (আঃ) এর সওম এর মতো সওম পালন কর। পর্যায়ক্রমে একটি সওম পালন কর এবং একদিন বাদ দাও। 'আবদুল্লাহ (রাযিঃ) বলতেন, হায়! আমি যদি সহজটার উপর আমল করতাম! Abdullah b. 'Amr (Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me! 'Abdullah b. 'Amr, it has been conveyed to me that you observe fast during the day and stand in prayer during the whole night. Don't do that, for your body has a share of its own in you, your eye has a share of its own in you, your wife has a share of her own in you. Observe fast and break it too. Fast for three days in every month and that is a prepetual fasting. I said! Messenger of Allah, I have got strength enough (to do more than this), whereupon he said:Then observe the fast of David (peace be upon him). Observe fast one day and break it (on the other) day. And he ('Abdullah b. 'Amr) used to say: Would that I had availed myself of this concession
মুহাম্মাদ ইবনু রাফি' (রহঃ) ..... আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু 'আমর ইবনুল ‘আস (রাযিঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেনঃ আল্লাহর নিকট সর্বাধিক প্রিয় সওম হচ্ছে দাউদ (আঃ) এর সওম। তিনি বছরের অর্ধেক কাল সওম পালন করতেন। মহান আল্লাহর নিকট সর্বাধিক পছন্দনীয় সালাত (সালাত/নামাজ/নামায) হচ্ছে দাউদ (আঃ) এর সালাত। তিনি অর্ধ রাত ঘুমাতেন, অতঃপর সালাতে দাঁড়াতেন, অতঃপর শেষ রাতে ঘুমিয়ে যেতেন। তিনি অর্ধ রাত অতিক্রান্ত হবার পর এক-তৃতীয়াংশ রাত ইবাদাত করতেন। রাবী ইবনু জুরায়জ (রহঃ) বলেন, আমি 'আমর ইবনু দীনারকে বললাম, আমর ইবনুল আস (রাযিঃ) কি এ কথা বলতেন যে, তিনি অর্ধরত অতিক্রান্ত হবার পর এক-তৃতীয়াংশ রাত ইবাদাতে থাকতেন? তিনি বললেন, হ্যাঁ। (ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন ২৬০৭, ইসলামীক সেন্টার)
Abdullah b. 'Amr b. al-'As reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:The best fasting in the eye of Allah is that of David, for he fasted for half of the age (he fasted on alternate days), and the best prayer in the eye of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, is that of David (peace be upon him), for he slept for half of the night and then stood for prayer and then again slept. He prayed for one-third of the night after midnight. He (the narrator) said: I asked 'Amr b. Dinar whether 'Amr b. Aus said that he stood for prayer one-third of the night after midnight. He said: Yes
