وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلاً، سَأَلَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْوِتْرِ أَوَاجِبٌ هُوَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَدْ أَوْتَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَوْتَرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ . فَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يُرَدِّدُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ أَوْتَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَوْتَرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ .
রেওয়ায়ত ১৭. মালিক (রহঃ) হইতে বর্ণিত, তাহার নিকট বর্ণনা পৌঁছিয়াছে যে, এক ব্যক্তি আবদুল্লাহ্ ইবন উমর (রাঃ)-কে বিতর (নামায) ওয়াজিব কিনা জিজ্ঞাসা করিলেন। (উত্তরে) তিনি বলিলেনঃ রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বিতর পড়িয়াছেন এবং মুসলিমগণও বিতর পড়িয়াছেন। বর্ণনাকারী বলেনঃ (প্রশ্নকারী) সেই ব্যক্তিটি বারবার তাহাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করিতেছিলেনঃ বিতর ওয়াজিব কি না? (উত্তরে) আবদুল্লাহ (রাঃ) বারবার ইহাই বলিয়াছেন।
Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that a man asked Abdullah ibn Umar whether the witr was obligatory and Abdullah ibn Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed witr, and the muslims prayed witr." রেওয়ায়ত ১৬. সাঈদ ইবন মুসায়্যাব (রহঃ) বর্ণনা করিয়াছেন- আবু বকর সিদ্দীক (রাঃ) শয্যা গ্রহণের ইচ্ছা করিলে বিতর পড়িয়া লইতেন। আর উমর (রাঃ) শেষ রাত্রে বিতর পড়িতেন। সাঈদ ইবন মুসায়্যাব বলেন, (আমার অভ্যাস হইল এই) আমি যখন শয্যা গ্রহণ করিতে আসি তখন বিতর পড়িয়া লই।
Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Said ibn al-Musayyab said, "Abu Bakr as-Siddiq used to pray witr when he wished to go to bed, and Umar ibn al-Khattab used to pray witr at the end of the night. As for me, I pray witr when I go to bed
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ، زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَتْ تَقُولُ مَنْ خَشِيَ أَنْ يَنَامَ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ فَلْيُوتِرْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَمَنْ رَجَا أَنْ يَسْتَيْقِظَ آخِرَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيُؤَخِّرْ وِتْرَهُ .
রেওয়ায়ত ১৮. মালিক (রহঃ) হইতে বর্ণিত- তাহার নিকট রেওয়ায়ত পৌছিয়াছে যে, নবী করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম এর সহধর্মিণী আয়েশা (রাঃ) বলিয়াছেনঃ যাহার এই আশংকা থাকে যে, সে ভোর হওয়া পর্যন্ত ঘুমাইবে, তবে সে ঘুমের পূর্বেই বিতর পড়িয়া লইবে। আর যে ব্যক্তি শেষ রাত্রে জাগিবার ভরসা রাখে সে বিতর পরে (শেষ রাত্রে) পড়িবে।

রেওয়ায়ত ১৫. সাঈদ ইবন ইয়াসার (রহঃ) বলিয়াছেনঃ আমি আবদুল্লাহ ইবন উমর (রাঃ)-এর সঙ্গে মক্কার পথে ভ্রমণ করিতেছিলাম। সাঈদ (রহঃ) বর্ণনা করিলেনঃ যখন প্রভাত হওয়ার আশংকা করিলাম, তখন বিতর পড়িলাম এবং (তাড়াতাড়ি) আসিয়া তাহার সাথে একত্র হইলাম। আবদুল্লাহ্ ইবন উমর (রাঃ) জিজ্ঞাসা করিলেনঃ তুমি (এতক্ষণ) কোথায় ছিলে ? আমি (উত্তরে) তাহাকে বলিলামঃ ভোর হইতেছে আশংকা করিয়া নিচে নামিয়া বিতর পড়িয়ছি। ইহা (শুনিয়া) আবদুল্লাহ্ (রাঃ) বললেনঃ তোমার জন্য রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম এর (কাজের মধ্যে) আদর্শ নাই কি ? আমি বলিলামঃ আল্লাহর কসম, হ্যাঁ আছে। তিনি বলিলেনঃ (মনে রাখ) রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম উটের উপর বিতর পড়িতেন।
