রাসূলুল্লাহ্ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেনঃ যদি বানী আদমের স্বর্ণ ভরা একটা উপত্যকা থাকে, তথাপি সে তার জন্য দু’টি উপত্যকা হওয়ার কামনা করবে। তার মুখ মাটি ব্যতীত অন্য কিছুতেই ভরবে না। তবে যে ব্যক্তি তওবা করবে, আল্লাহ্ তার তওবা কবূল করবেন।[1] (আধুনিক প্রকাশনী- ৫৯৯০, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন)
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If Adam's son had a valley full of gold, he would like to have two valleys, for nothing fills his mouth except dust. And Allah forgives him who repents to Him
‘আব্বাস ইবনু সাহল ইবনু সা‘দ (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণনা করেন। আমি ইবনুয্ যুবায়র (রাঃ)-কে মক্কায় মিম্বারের উপর তার খুত্বার মধ্যে বলতে শুনেছি। তিনি বলেছেনঃ হে লোকেরা! নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলতেন, যদি বানী আদমকে স্বর্ণে ভরা এক উপত্যকা মাল দেয়া হয়, তথাপিও সে দ্বিতীয়টার জন্য লালায়িত হয়ে থাকবে। আর তাকে দ্বিতীয়টি যদি দেয়া হয়, তাহলে সে তৃতীয়টার জন্য লালায়িত থাকবে। বানী আদমের পেট মাটি ছাড়া ভরতে পারে না। তবে যে তওবা করবে, আল্লাহ্ তার তওবা কবূল করবেন। (আধুনিক প্রকাশনী- ৫৯৮৯, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন)
Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d:
I heard Ibn Az-Zubair who was on the pulpit at Mecca, delivering a sermon, saying, "O men! The Prophet used to say, "If the son of Adam were given a valley full of gold, he would love to have a second one; and if he were given the second one, he would love to have a third, for nothing fills the belly of Adam's son except dust. And Allah forgives he who repents to Him." Ubai said, "We considered this as a saying from the Qur'an till the Sura (beginning with) 'The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you..' (102.1) was revealed

Ubayy said (referring to the hadith above), "We considered this as a saying from the Qur'an till the Surah (beginning with):"The mutual rivalry (for piling up of worldly things) diverts you' (102:1) was revealed
ইবনু ‘আব্বাস (রাঃ) বলেন। আমি নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে বলতে শুনেছি যে, তিনি বলেনঃ বানী আদমের জন্য যদি এক উপত্যকা পরিমাণ ধনমাল থাকে, তবুও সে আরো ঐ পরিমাণ সম্পদের জন্য লালায়িত থাকবে। বানী আদমের চোখ মাটি ছাড়া আর কিছুতেই ভরবে না। তবে যে তওবা করবে আল্লাহ্ তার তওবা কবূল করবেন। ইবনু ‘আব্বাস(রাঃ) বলেন, সুতরাং আমি জানি না- এটি কুরআনের অন্তর্গত কিনা। তিনি বলেন, আমি ইবনুয যুবায়রকে এটা মিম্বরের উপর বলতে শুনেছি। [৬৪৩৬] (আধুনিক প্রকাশনী- ৫৯৮৮, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন)
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "If the son of Adam had money equal to a valley, then he will wish for another similar to it, for nothing can satisfy the eye of Adam's son except dust. And Allah forgives him who repents to Him." Ibn `Abbas said: I do not know whether this saying was quoted from the Qur'an or not. `Ata' said, "I heard Ibn Az-Zubair saying this narration while he was on the pulpit
