তিনি বলেন, আহযাব (খন্দক) যুদ্ধের সময় রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম পরিখা খনন করেছেন। আমি তাঁকে খন্দকের মাটি বহন করতে দেখেছি। এমনকি ধূলাবালি পড়ার কারণে তার পেটের চামড়া ঢেকে গিয়েছিল। তিনি অধিকতর পশম বিশিষ্ট ছিলেন। সে সময় আমি নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে মাটি বহন রত অবস্থায় ইবনু রাওয়াহার কবিতা আবৃত্তি করে শুনেছি। তিনি বলছিলেনঃ হে আল্লাহ! আপনি যদি হিদায়াত না করতেন তাহলে আমরা হিদায়াত পেতাম না, আমরা সদাকাহ করতাম না এবং আমরা সালাতও আদায় করতাম না। সুতরাং আমাদের প্রতি আপনার শান্তি অবতীর্ণ করুন, এবং দুশমনের সম্মুখীন হওয়ার সময় আমাদেরকে দৃঢ়পদ রাখুন। অবশ্য মক্কা্বাসীরাই আমাদের প্রতি বাড়াবাড়ি করেছে, তারা ফিতনা বিস্তার করতে চাইলে আমরা তা প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছি। বর্ণনাকারী (বারাআ) বলেন, শেষের কথাগুলি তিনি টেনে আবৃত্তি করছিলেন। [২৮৩৬] (আধুনিক প্রকাশনীঃ ৩৮০০, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশনঃ)
Narrated Al-Bara:
When it was the day of Al-Ahzab (i.e. the clans) and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) dug the trench, I saw him carrying earth out of the trench till dust made the skin of his `Abdomen out of my sight and he was a hairy man. I heard him reciting the poetic verses composed by Ibn Rawaha while he was carrying the earth, "O Allah! Without You we would not have been guided, nor would we have given in charity, nor would we have prayed. So, (O Allah), please send Sakina (i.e. calmness) upon us and make our feet firm if we meet the enemy, as they have rebelled against us. And if they intend affliction (i.e. want to frighten us, and fight against us) then we would not (flee but withstand them)." The Prophet (ﷺ) would then prolong his voice at the last words
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رَضِيَ الله عنهما ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " نُصِرْتُ بِالصَّبَا وَأُهْلِكَتْ عَادٌ بِالدَّبُورِ ".
ইবনু ‘আব্বাস (রাঃ) সূত্রে নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম হতে বর্ণিত:

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I have been made victorious by As-Saba (i.e. an easterly wind) and the Ad nation was destroyed by Ad-Dabur (i.e. a westerly wind)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَنْقُلُ التُّرَابَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ حَتَّى أَغْمَرَ بَطْنَهُ أَوِ اغْبَرَّ بَطْنُهُ يَقُولُ وَاللَّهِ لَوْلاَ اللَّهُ مَا اهْتَدَيْنَا وَلاَ تَصَدَّقْنَا وَلاَ صَلَّيْنَا فَأَنْزِلَنْ سَكِينَةً عَلَيْنَا وَثَبِّتِ الأَقْدَامَ إِنْ لاَقَيْنَا إِنَّ الأُلَى قَدْ بَغَوْا عَلَيْنَا إِذَا أَرَادُوا فِتْنَةً أَبَيْنَا وَرَفَعَ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ أَبَيْنَا أَبَيْنَا.
বারাআ (রাঃ) হতে বর্ণিত:
তিনি বলেন, নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম খন্দক যুদ্ধের দিন মাটি বহন করেছিলেন। এমনকি মাটি তাঁর পেট ঢেকে ফেলেছিল অথবা (বর্ণনাকারীর সন্দেহ) তাঁর পেট ধূলায় আচ্ছন্ন হয়ে গিয়েছিল। এ সময় তিনি বলছিলেনঃ আল্লাহর কসম! আল্লাহ হিদায়াত না করলে আমরা হিদায়াত পেতাম না, দান সদাকাহ করতাম না এবং সালাতও আদায় করতাম না। সুতরাং (হে আল্লাহ!) আমাদের প্রতি রহমত অবতীর্ণ করুন এবং আমাদেরকে শত্রুর সঙ্গে মুকাবালা করার সময় দৃঢ়পদ রাখুন। নিশ্চয়ই মক্কা্বাসীরা আমাদের প্রতি বিদ্রোহ করেছে। যখনই তারা ফিতনার প্রয়াস পেয়েছে তখনই আমরা এড়িয়ে গেছি। শেষের কথাগুলো বলার সময় নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম উচ্চস্বরে ‘‘এড়িয়ে গেছি’’, ‘‘এড়িয়ে গেছি’’ বলে উঠেছেন। [২৮৩৬] (আধুনিক প্রকাশনীঃ ৩৭৯৮, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশনঃ)
Narrated Al-Bara:
The Prophet (ﷺ) was carrying earth on the day of Al-Khandaq till his `Abdomen was fully covered with dust, and he was saying, "By Allah, without Allah we would not have been guided, neither would we have given in charity, nor would we have prayed. So (O Allah), please send Sakina (i.e. calmness) upon us, and make our feet firm if we meet the enemy as the enemy have rebelled against us, and if they intend affliction, (i.e. want to frighten us and fight against us then we would not flee but withstand them)." The Prophet (ﷺ) used to raise his voice saying, "Abaina! Abaina! (i.e. would not, we would not)
