Surah Al-Waqi'ah (“The Inevitable”) is the 56th surah of the Quran: a Makkan surah of 96 ayahs.

A Makkan surah on the Day of Resurrection, and on the signs of Allah’s power in the everyday — seeds, water and fire.

The opening ayahs
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ١
When the Occurrence occurs,
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
خَافِضَةٌۭ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].
