Surah Al-Qasas (“The Stories”) is the 28th surah of the Quran: a Makkan surah of 88 ayahs.
Background
A late Makkan surah. Its detailed story of Musa’s flight and return mirrored the situation of the Prophet ﷺ before his own Hijrah.
Main themes
- Musa’s mother casting him into the river, and his return to her
- His flight to Madyan and his marriage
- The call at the fire and the mission to Pharaoh
- Qarun, whom the earth swallowed with his treasures (76–82)

طسٓمٓ ١
Ta, Seen, Meem.
تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ٢
These are the verses of the clear Book.
نَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْكَ مِن نَّبَإِ مُوسَىٰ وَفِرْعَوْنَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٣
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe.
