Hadith 302
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ يَعَلَى بْنِ مَمْلَكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَإِذَا هِيَ تَنْعَتُ قِرَاءَةً مُفَسَّرَةً حَرْفًا حَرْفًا‏.‏

Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaika reported:

Ya'la ibn Mamlak asked Umm Salama about the Qur’anic recitation of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace), whereupon she described a Qur’anic recitation that was explained letter by letter.

Hadith 303
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ‏:‏ قُلْتُ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ‏:‏ كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏؟‏ فَقَالَ‏:‏ مَدًّا‏.‏

Narrated Qatada said:

“I said to Anas ibn Malik: 'How was the Qur’anic recitation of Alla’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace)?’ He said: ‘With the voice drawn out over the long vowels.'”

Hadith 304
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأُمَوِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ‏:‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، يَقْطَعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ، يَقُولُ‏:‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ثُمَّ يَقِفُ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ‏:‏ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ثُمَّ يَقِفُ، وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ مَلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ‏.‏

Narrated Umm Salama said:

"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to interrupt his Qur’anic recitation. He would say: “Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds .”

Hadith 305
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَكَانَ يُسِرُّ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ أَمْ يَجْهَرُ‏؟‏ قَالَتْ‏:‏ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ قَدْ كَانَ رُبَّمَا أَسَرَّ وَرُبَّمَا جَهَرَ فَقُلْتُ‏:‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي الأَمْرِ سَعَةً‏.‏

Narrated 'Abdu’llah ibn Abi Qais said:

"I asked "A'isha (may Allah be well pleased with her) about the Qur’anic recitation of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace): “Was he used to whispering the recitation, or pronouncing it audibly?” She said: “He used
to do both. He would sometimes whisper and sometimes speak audibly.” I therefore said: “Praise be to Allah, who has granted us flexibility in the matter!”

Hadith 306
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلاءِ الْعَبْدِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ، قَالَتْ‏:‏ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَةَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، بِاللَّيْلِ وَأَنَا عَلَى عَرِيشِي‏.‏

Narrated Umm Hani' said:

“I used to hear the Qur’anic recitation of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) during the night while I was on my pallet.”

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ، قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ، يَقُولُ‏:‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ، وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ‏:‏ إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ، قَالَ‏:‏ فَقَرَأَ وَرَجَّعَ، قَالَ‏:‏ وَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ‏:‏ لَوْلا أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ لأَخَذْتُ لَكُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ الصَّوْتِ أَوْ قَالَ‏:‏ اللَّحْنِ‏.‏

Narrated Abdu’llah ibn Mughaffal said:

"I saw the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) on his she-camel on the Day of Victory, and he was reciting: “We have surely given you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive you your former and your latter sins .” (Al Qur'an 48:1-2) He recited in a quivering voice.”

Hadith 308
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْحُدَّانِيُّ، عَنْ حُسَامِ بْنِ مِصَكٍّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ‏:‏ مَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ نَبِيًّا إِلا حَسَنَ الْوَجْهِ، حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ، وَكَانَ نَبِيُّكُمْ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَسَنَ الْوَجْهِ، حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ، وَكَانَ لا يُرَجِّعُ‏.‏

Narrated Qataadah said:

"Allah has not sent a Prophet unless he was endowed with a handsome face and a beautiful voice, and your Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) was endowed with a handsome face and a beautiful voice, and he did not chant in a quavering tone.”

Hadith 309
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، رُبَّمَا يَسْمَعُهَا مَنْ فِي الْحُجْرَةِ وَهُوَ فِي الْبَيْتِ‏.‏

Narrated Ibn Abbas said (may Allah be well pleased with him and his father):

:
“The Qur’anic recitation of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) was sometimes heard by those in the chamber, while he was in the house.”
